SERVICE & OUTREACH

“Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these…you did it to me.” – Matthew

25:40

Faith comes alive through service, and we are dedicated to serving our neighbors

Thrift Store

The mission of our thrift store is three-fold; an outreach service to provide our community with a variety of reasonably priced merchandise; encourage recycling by the community to protect our environment; help support our church financially to continue to provide a welcoming place of community worship. The store is totally run by volunteers and each volunteer brings their best-self at working together as a team. In addition, we work with a company that collects our unsellable donations and distributes to Central American countries in need.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Our church is partnering with St. Gertrude’s Church and aiding their support of this organization. The organization ministers to the disadvantaged of our community as well as feeding over 75,000 men, women and children all over Long Island. In addition, they offer financial help for rent, car repairs and clothing. Homeless, sick, marginalized people are given hope, a sympathetic ear, a friendly smile, and a warm hand to hold on to. The Vincentians are able to do this through the dedication of its volunteers and generous donations.

Locust Valley Comforters

We are a small group open to the community and are always looking for additional people to join us.  Sewing skills are not a requirement – the construction of these quilts requires many other talents. We raise funds when necessary through bake sales and accept contributions of materials as well as monetary gifts.

Over the past several years, we have supplied quilts to numerous organizations and programs: North Shore University Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Manhasset, Ronald McDonald House in New Hyde Park, the Northport Veteran’s Administration Medical Center and most recently, the Refugee Resettlement Program. We are always looking to have more people join us in our ministry. We now meet on the first and third Monday of the month from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We invite you to stop by and see what it is that we do and see if you might be interested in helping us. No sewing experience is needed. If you have any questions, please call the church office at 516-676-6130.
